What is the best method to clean circular polarizer filters? I am able to get the glass side clean, however, the side with the film or whatever seems to smear and never clean when I use lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth.

The multicoating is (supposed to be) on both sides. The polarizing film is sandwiched between two layers of glass. So clean them like any other filter, except avoid immersive methods. I mostly use microfiber cloth and LensPen. Jon

But CPs are glass-polarizing material sandwiches; get 'em too wet and you'll have to wait until the inside dries out. Jon

Then fog the filter surface with your breath and wipe with a clean microfiber. You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost! I was finally able to get it clean instead of having it smear. My B+W filter never gives me issues but this dang Hoya seems to. 5D4 | 50 1.4 | 85L II | 24-70L II | 70-200 2.8L IS II
