I changed my camera to sRAW (40D)- not really understanding what it meant ...dumb ass...and now realize that I will not be able to enlarge any of the photos that I took. Does anyone have any suggestions or help?

Only that shooting in sRaw with a 10MP camera is not the best thing to do unless you are only shooting snapshots!

My 1D3 is a 10MP camera, and so the sRaw files are quite small. I wouldn't dream of taking meaningful sRaw shots with is.

The 5DM2, on the other hand, actually delivers 10MP sRaw files...that's something I might consider for certain types of shooting.

Sorry for your loss:(!

sRAW on the 40D is 1936 x 1288. At 200 dpi that is 10 x 6.5 "

Not the end of the world, in terms of making prints. How often do people even make 8x12 ?!

2000 pixels wide will make a decent enough 8x12, and an acceptable 24" print. It wouldn't hold up under close examination, but people rarely do that. Don't worry about it :)

As others have said you can't do posters but you can be creative with it to make them seem larger.

Do some collages, or get creative with vignetting and place several poses of the same person for example on an larger print.

If you wanted a 4 foot by 6 foot landscape for the wall, then you will have to shoot again.

and if you did want a 4'x6', you'd be overtaxing the resolution of the lens, even if shot with a 15MP camera rather than with 2.5MP sRAW setting!

From an APS-C body, 4'x6' is a 81x enlargement factor from the original sensor size. Even from a superb lens with 80 ll/mm resolution to the sensor, you would have a mere 1 line/millimeter on the final print, and it takes 5 lines/mm for the brain to perceive an image as sharp!
