Battery grip (BG-E2N) doesn't power off camera

My battery grip (BG-E2N) no longer turns my 20D off when I open the battery compartment. I've taken the battery grip off, and put it back on, to make sure it had a good connection, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

One thing I have found, If I hold the sliding latch on the grip to the right, the camera does power off, but as soon as I let it slide back, it powers the camera back up, regardless whether the compartment is open or closed.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any solutions on how to fix it?

I wouldn't bother. I never even knew it did that on my previous 40D or the 5D

I don't have any use for grips, but you might look for a microswitch near the latching mechanism. It's possible that's getting stuck.

I always try to remember to turn the camera off before removing the batteries from the grip. I guess I never knew opening the door would turn the camera off.
