I'm having difficulties with my camera. When I push the button to pop up my flash, nothing happens. It does not come up. When I go to menu>flash control>built in flash func. setting, I get "This menu cannot be displayed.
External flash is attached." Obviously I can see that my 580 is not mounted. What could this be? Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance.

Did you remember to turn off the camera after the flash was mounted/unmounted?

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Check the micro-switch in the hotshoe, on the right side when viewed from the rear. I manually pushed mine down and I get the same exact message when trying to access built in flash settings.

Thank you. That's what's happening. It wasn't "lifting" high enough. If I manually lifted it up, the flash would pop up. I appreciate your help!
