Set up at 5:30 am and waited for the good morning light to bounce off the cliff faces. Shot with 5D2, 24-105L, and CPL to enhance the reflections.

That's a very pretty shot. Worth getting up for.

I'm not a morning person, but I could certainly become one to grab a shot like this one! Nicely done.

Exactly...plenty of shooting locales up and down the creek. Just be sure to get there before the swimmers...:D

The best times are from 5:30 am to about 7:30 am. After 8:00, the sun gets too high up and you lose all hope of the beautiful reflections.

Hey Argyle...GREAT shot!

I would love to know if you also used an ND filter for this or did you stop it way down for the low shutter speed. What was your shutter speed for this?

I have not yet been able to capture a waterfall/river shot that I like yet so if you are willing to share...I am all ears (or eyes :) )

Did not use an ND filter for this shot...just my B+W Kaesemann polarizer. EXIF as follows:

ISO: 50
Aperture: f/22
Shutter: 2.5 seconds
Focal length: 80mm

For shots like this, you need to persevere. We set up at 5:30am, but the best light didn't occur until about 7:20 or so, and even then it only lasted for about 15 minutes. I was looking to get this specific shot, so I had to sit for nearly two hours until the light was just right.

The only advice that I can give is to scout some areas in advance, get a good idea as to what your composition will be or should be, then head back when the light is best (early morning or late afternoon). Plan your arrival to give yourself plenty of time to set your gear up...then wait. Landscape shooting requires patience (and a good pair of water shoes). :D

since you climbed the down and parked on the road I guess I will have to try that in October we were nice and waited for the gate - but you got the best light - very nice shot
were you north of the park entrance?

Now just what is that supposed to mean? ;):D We parked on the main road north of the bridge, then doubled back along the trail about a 1/2-mile or so. Once we got to the other side of the bridge, made a hard right and down to the creek. Plan on shooting early in the morning, and plan on two days. Day one, work your way up the creek (so to speak), and on day two head down in the opposite direction. At times you'll be in the water, so be sure to have a "grippy" pair of water shoes...the rocks below the surface are very slippery.

Here's a shot of the various falls and spillways, taken from the bridge. There are even more beyond the top of the frame...you just gotta wade through the creek to get to them.
