Good pictures Neil. Wondering if you can help me on something different.

I have a Metz 76 MZ-5 and a Canon 5D mkII. I find the Metz braket system poor and I am looking for a compact, well designed, lightweight and more sturdy alternative. I have looked at RRS but they have stopped making their Metz adapter brackets and they look as though they don't accommodate any hammerhead flashes on their camera bracket systems. Custom brackets looks bulky and I have seen many reports that they weigh much more than the alternative manufacturers.

Any thoughts?

I can highly recommend the Newton Camera Brackets (www.newtoncamerabrackets.com) as a pro grade bracket as light weight as the RRS yet with a lower price than the pricey RRS. I am unfamiliar with the mount of the 76MZ, is it similar to the older 45CL or 60CL bayonet mount? Newton used to have available a bayonet mount to fit Metz, but for some reason he discontinued that. I see that he does have a bracket which uses the standard 1/2-20 thread screw to afix any flash which as a 1/4-20 socket at the bottom.

Canon dSLR system, Olympus OM 35mm system, Bronica ETRSi 645 system, Horseman LS 4x5 system, Metz flashes, Dynalite studio lighting, and too many accessories to mention

The older 45CL or 60CL bayonet mount is the same for the Metz 76. Thanks for the suggestion Wilt. I will give Newton a call.
