The mode dial for example when I dial Manual, it is actually flash mode, when I choose AV, it is landcape and such. Have anybody heard of such an issue?

Every mode is not what is states it is but something else. I believe there is a metal disk underneath the plastic dial that is not in alignment with the dial but it is not broken, I can chose any mode I want, i just can not get the correct mode I chose.

I had to sent my camera body to the Canon Factory Service in Jamesburg, NJ (my 1 year warranty ends the 27th of June, 2009 so I just made it in time).

What could cause this? The camera has never been dropped or abused and there are no dents or cracks on the camera.

thanks

Sounds like you answered your own question - it's likely that the dial got knocked out of alignment with the actual knob underneath somehow... How is a different question, but who knows.
