Just wondering how people keep there 50D lcd clean, every time i use it I end up with greasy nose prints on the lcd and unlike other cameras it won't rub off it just spreads.

That don't sound too good  but you know what I mean.

I just wipe it with my t-shirt.

I also use my shirt on my XTi. Kind of a pain-in-the-butt to have to clean it every time I take a picture. The one feature I really like on the S3, is the flip and turn LCD screen so you can turn the screen so it is not exposed on the back of the camera.

This is the only thing that i hate about the 50D, it is impossible to have that screen clean all the time

You can try a Canon EP-EX15II eyepiece extender, they're pretty cheap (less than $20). It gets your face away from the body and reduces the oil smudges. The down side is that it makes the display a little smaller (doesn't crop it though).

Use your left eye :)

(Althought it must be said I sometimes end up engaging Live View with my nose on my 40D :D )

Thanks guys, glad to see I'm not the only one, even the lens cleaning cloth causes a smudge

Just curious, but do any of you guys have any 'dust' or anything under the LCD? i've just purchased a 50D 1 week ago and i have 3 black dots under the screen, it could be burnt pixels or it could be dust, i can't tell really.

*ps - sorry if i hijacked your thread dood

Seems silly, but I wash my face before going out, and I have a handkerchief I use to wipe sweat from my brow or nose when shooting (I do a lot of outdoor stuff). If you have an extremely oily nose, maybe try an astringent? This helps keep the screen clean, but I still use an MF cloth when smudges accumulate.

i put a piece of protective film over my screen. the added benefit is that now nose and finger prints wipe off much more easily, even with my thumb. it used to be that i'm just smearing the grease around if i tried to wipe with my thumb. tv still works best, but now i can clean with my thumb when i'm lazy.

I rarely clean mine. I just ignore the smudges unless I know I'm going to be showing the camera to someone.

Ha! I have the same problem. Too much face gunge and my fingers brush it occasionally too which does help. I've taken to using that same sort of cloth that you use to clean sun glasses. Works a treat!

If I have one of those sunglass cleaning cloths handy, I use it - otherwise I just breathe on it and give it a quick wipe with my t-shirt.
