Underwater Fun

I took these with my A80 in it's underwater housing. Much better than a throw away film camera. The first one is in St Thomas, on a thing called the BOB, kind of like an underwater motorscooter. The second is in the Grand Caymans, snorkeling with the stingrays. Both were a lot of fun

Nice! Can you boost the saturation a bit?

Hmmmm... in the first one there is a little of suspension in the water, were you using the camera flash ? The second is nice in composition, but I do not like the chain in the background. Also the shadows ot the stingrays are quite greenish and the blue of the water seems unnatural, did you over PSed it ? Or thats the natural colors ? True that I never had a dive in the Caymans, but I have about 150 dives in my logbook (mostly mediterranean) and those colors look a little strange to me.

The underwater case looks like itd be a lot of fun. Nice shots.

Good shots. I like the rays in the second one. I looked into an underwater housing for my 300D but boy are they expensive for what is effectively a plastic bag with stiff handles. Cheaper to rent a rig from the dive center!

Thanks all. If you're not a serious underwater photo nut, than it's cheaper to buy an A series, S series, or S1 or S2 IS camera, and an underwater housing for it, than to get just a housing for any of the EOS series cameras. They still go to 40 meters/135ish feet, but don’t cost two arms and a leg, plus you get a great walk around camera (think beach, skiing, and other dusty/wet environments). Here in the States the housings can be had for $175 - $200 ish from B&H and many other retailers. The down side to not getting an EOS Housing is the lack of dedicated ETTL flashes (which are also two arms and a leg). You can get some slave flashes for the non EOS housings that work really well though (from what I’ve read)
