Don't forget your lens hood!!!

We just did a small wedding and I usually don't have room in our bag to fit all the lens hoods but for some reason I packed just two lens hoods for our two primary lenses. THANK GOD. It started to drizzle and I wonder what they were expecting if it REALLY rained. Refund?

I shot a wedding in the rain last weekend. A hood & filter offers some protection, but I also put the whole camera/lens inside a ziplock bag with a hole cut out for the lens.

As far as refunds go, I have a clause in my contract that states no refunds given for inclement weather. If the couple is concerned about rain, they should accommodate for it. They're not going to get refunds for the dress, cake, flowers, etc., and photography is no different.

Do you get paid in advance in full?

Yes, always. Payment in full is due 10 days prior to the wedding. I think it's pretty common. I've never had anybody complain about it.

Absolutely! Check needs time to clear for one. AND I had another friend who does weddings, have a couple get divorced before he had the final pictures ready!

hmmm smart - i usually go 1/3 1/3 1/3
1/3 at time of booking, 1/3 before the wedding and 1/3 when prints are delivered.

Only if you stop shooting...which you shouldn't.

If they carry on with things in the rain, I believe it's your job to keep shooting...so be prepared for that.

Likely, they would run for cover so you could do the same...getting some great 'documentary' type shots all the while.

I think it is very standard to be paid in full before you render any services. I think you could have kept shooting from a sheltered location. Have an assistant follow you around with an umbrella or come prepared with rain gear.
