Hello,I have the kit lense 18-55 IS.I used a circular filter on it with good results.I tried a polarizer filter as well, and when i unscrewed it a smalll thin c type metal ring came from somewhere - off the lenses end or the filter and now no caps or filters will snap/screw onto the lenses end.

I cant protect this lenses. It still takes pics but no cap option.I was not rough in anyway other than unscrewing the filters.
Thanks for any and all help.

p.s.Will Canon fix this or am i screwed?

What is a circular filter? You need to work on spelling, etc. if you want to be understood.

A circular polarized filter does not have the ridges inside the filter to hold on another filter or lens cap.

Take Care,

Oh, OK so the inside where the filter screws on has come off with your CPL and your filter and or lens cap won't stay on now. If your not able to put the threaded part back into the lens, I would send it back to Canon and see if they can fix it.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick
