I voted for the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L lens. Although, I previously owned the Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens which I consider a fine lens for the price. Believe some clarification is required on this poll as to "what" is considered "nifty-fifty?"

yeah I'd have to say the EF 50MM f/1.8 would be the nifty (mainly due to how inexpensive it is comparatively to the other 50's)

And to add even more confusion, isn't that actually the 50 f/2.5 Compact Macro? ;)

The way I've always heard it told is:

50/1.8II = Nifty Fifty -or- Thrifty Fifty -or- Plastic Fantastic

50/1.4 has no nickname that I'm aware of.

50/1.2L = Shifty Fifty, for obvious reasons.

This is what I have aways heard.

From August 2006. Although this list popped up on DPR, it's origins are from POTN. (This oughtta add some confusion, lol)

Plastic Fantastic is iirc the Tokina 19-35

One nickname for the f/1.4 is "fiddy", but it doesn't seem very popular in its usage. Also see post #52... And then post #53, lol :p
