I've been searching for a P&S for a few months already.
I spent countless hours looking for the perfect P&S. I realized the older version SD880 IS is better than the new ones (SD 960 & SX200) except for no HD video which is not a big problem.

Is there any reputable dealer still selling SD880 IS?

I already settled on Panasonic ZS3. I placed an order already but they are back-ordered.
Then, I read the news that Panasonic have a new firmware to make the camera not operational when using 3rd party battery. That move made me cancel my order.

I shouldn't check this before I made my order yesterday.
I just placed an order for Fuji F200EXR.

Panasonic is doing this to protect their customers. It seems that some third party batteries do not have circuitry to protect from overheating.

If you believe that you probably also believe that red light cameras are there for safety, not to raise revenue from tickets.

I don't believe any of these... that's why I canceled my order.

In regards to Adorama's refurbished items, I know some people say that functionality wise, it may perform better than if you bought it new because it inspected by a Canon technician.

But is it usually indistinguishable from new (cosmetically)?

I have a refurb A630 from Adorama and it's fine; good condition and working well. So I wouldn't worry about gettign a refurb. if it's the only way to get the model you want.
