I have several lenes for my Rebel G. One of those is the 28-105 1:3.5 - 4.5. I havent used it in a month of Sundays. When I went to use it the other day it would no longer auto focus. Manual focus is fine. I got the lens for free several years ago. Is it worth getting it fixed? I also have the 80-200 1:4.5 - 5.6 II and a 35-80 1:4 - 5.6 II to go along with it.

My camera doesn't take great pictures.....I do!

Try it on another body. Does it have a MF/AF switch on the side of the lens? Start looking now at getting some "modern" lenses.

My version (the II version) has a MF/AF switch, so the problem is it's likely switched to MF.

The 28-105 II USM is still one of the best bangs for the buck from Canon, so there is no need for the OP to look for a more "modern" lens IMO.

I guess I should have mentioned that it is switched to AF and not MF.

Still have the manual focus and the camera works fine in every mode. Just wont auto focus. I've taken it off and put it on several times to make sure it was attached right.

Ah ... too bad. Try messing with the switch and cleaning the contacts on the lens and lens mount. If that doesn't work you'll have to determine if it's worth fixing.
