I am about to take the plunge to go ahead and buy a calibration tool and set up multiple monitors. I feel I have my personal computer dialed in just fine but I don't want to go through everything I did again with any other monitor. That any there is no way I could get another one exactly same as mine lol
Their are so many to choose from so I wanted to see what everyone else uses. The Spyder 3 Elite looks like a flop in all the reviews I have read. The Spyder 2 Pro seems like a solid way to go. I have also heard many great things about the Pantone ColorMunki .
Right now that is my top two contenders.
I would like to to hear from people that calibrate more then one monitor with any of the about and people that may have used more then one of the above. Any general comments about any of them are welcome as well.
Thanks for pertisipating in my first ever poll, and your comments.

The Eye One Display 2 (external link) is probably the best consumer-level colorimeter available. And if you're inclined to spend more you can look at the ColorEyes Display Pro (external link) software, and even pair it with the DTP-94 colorimeter.

Tried to run ColorEyes Demo it wouldn't let me. Already I am not a fan.
Research the i1 Display 2 and am hearing some very good things about it. Thanks.

Another vote for the i1D2.

If you get one, check out my tutorial (external link) for calibrating with it.

That's a good guide Damien.

i have had the Eye 1/2 and was always fine. I'd recommend it. Also had the Spyder 3.0 and was Ok, But I couldn't get it to calibrate a twin monitor set up though, so I still have one monitor runs calibrated and the other is standard. Is Ok, but not ideal! I need to buy a calibration tool again but need one that does twin monitors.

I don't think it's the responsibility of the calibrator to control two monitors - doesn't it come down to the OS/graphics card?

Looking at the specs at Datacolor (external link) shows, that multiple display calibration is possible with both the Pro and Elite version of the software plus Spyder3 hardware. As Damo77 said, you need to get it working with your grahics card drivers.

Piet

Yeah, I had Spyder Pro and for the life of me I couldn't get it to show the same profile on both monitors. I could choose one or the other. The instructions suck and there's nothing online either. I thought maybe because one monitor hangs off the digital output and the other off the analogue. I tried sorting via the video card control panel with no luck either.

I've used the Spyder 3 Pro, The Lacie Blue Eye and the version of the i1 that comes with Quato monitors and they all give the same results if you read their instructions properly.

I use a Monaco Optix XR pro.
If I were to buy now, I'd get an iOneDisplay2 or a ColorMunki.

You shouldn't have "the same profile on both monitors". Each monitor has his own, unique profile.

You need a graphics card that has a dual LUT:

What about user agreement/licensing and multiple uses? I have about 5 monitors I plan on calibrating. Will there be an issue with any of these tools to get this done?

I know that Datacolour allow you to calibrate as many monitors as you own with the Spyder 3 as long as they are yours and you don't set up a business, calibrating people's monitors. No idea about the others though.

I had used the Spyder2 express and recently switched to the Spyder 3 Elite. It made a noticeable difference
