OK, so I have the 5D2 and in the manual there is very little almost nothing about flash simply because it does not have one. I went out and bought the magic lantern guide and according to the magic lantern guide the fastest sync speed it 1/200 of a second. What I am trying to do is use high speed sync with my 580EX. According to the flash manual it states that when in high speed sync mode it will sync with any shutter speed. I would like to use this for a very important portrait and use the 580 as a fill in flash because its gonna be outdoors. Will the high speed sync on the 580 work with the 5d2? There is no literature on high speed sync in the 5d2 manual or the magic lantern guide, only in the 580EX manual but that could mount on any
Canon camera. By the way, I have the 580 EX not the 580EXII if that makes a difference.

Carloman,
Here is a link to a tutorial site that has a page explaining how to use HiSpeed sync and exposure compensation.

I did the examples with a 5D and 580EX but the principles are valid for your 5DII as well.
