Please don't smack me to hard if this is a "common knowledge" Photoshop question but is there no way to save your history along with your project file?
I wasn't thinking the other day and saved my .PSD after I had took several snap shots of many different PP I did of the same image. When I reopened it to view my snap shots BOOM! it hit me, I had forgot that the history didn't save with the .PSD. Is there any work around this? It is so hard for me to swallow that you can't save your history alone with your project file with a high end program such as PS CS4..

Somewhere in preferences there's an option to export your history as a text file, I think. I'm not at Photoshop at the moment, so I can't check.

google is your friend...i searched for exporting history in photoshop and found this:

go Edit ->Preferences -> General

Check the box next to History Log
Then select if you want to save it as Metadata, TXT or both. The choose where you want the text file to be saved.
Then choose how much data you want to be recorded.

If you don't know, you don't know. That is why I asked pal.

Would love to see how much you know about what I do for a living, work on and teach robots. Sure you knew to release your dead-man before turning of your saftey-speed switch to zero on a RJ2, 6 axis, Fanuc robot didn't you!!

Not everything has adjustable parameters and not everyone has spent 50,000 hours in Photoshop to learn every single thing that can be tweaked or modified.

BTW, I listed the question here to also help others that might have same issue that I had. And if it wasn't for people like me asking these questions on forums like POTN, guess what, GOOGLE WOULD RETURN NOTHING. lol
Thanks again.

Damo77 told you where the option to save history was located but instead of checking what he said you apparently want to be spoonfed.

Most people who know anything about Photoshop work non-destructively using layers; by giving the layers descriptive names they have a record of what was done at every step. An alternative is to record the history with the file but if you're too lazy to simply click in the Preferences menu and find where the History option is located then there's no helping you.

You are right, if it wasn't on the very first page I would have found it lol. That is why I over looked it I think.

If you did look at my others posts you would see I do help out, I help other people that want to learn, make step-by-step how too's and have helped others with PS in this forum when I knew the answer. Other's that are not afraid to ask no matter how simple the answer was to me or others. I never belittle anyone and will share and help to no end.

Please just PM me for any further issues you have with me or my posts not that I would want to see how you really feel about me or how your holding back all your pent up anger.

Its nice that you help others but that doesn't negate that in this instance you didn't even apply any real effort to help yourself.

BTW, outside of the Buy & Sell forums I have no reason to initiate PMs to anyone; I'm quite capable of saying exactly what I mean in the open. So...no, I don't have any "pent up anger" towards you; in fact, I'm generally indifferent to anything said in these forums and even moreso since I have the option to either ignore or respond to any post.

But since you asked the now deleted question, perhaps you'd want to revisit your "85mm 1.8 just returned from Canon WTF!" thread. While I did not participate in that thread I did subsequently read it. It is quite easy to read any poster's comment and form a general idea of what they are about...that wasn't one of your finer moments.

Although you don't have to spend a hyperbolic time learning PS (although there is no much in that program, that "playing around" with it will never facilitate full knowledge of it; plus, at $700 why wouldn't you want to spend time learning it?), knowing where to get info online - with PS, there's an overabundance of info available - will definitely help. I usually just ask here if I want to get a survey, or ask a specific question that I can't find from google. Good luck.
