I just bought a 5D classic; where do i start with what I like about this camera.

The viewfinder, seems so bright and large after the 1000D, it focuses so quickly and the depth of field. I had a play with my 85mm at f1.8 and my 70-200.

No Ducks to shoot, so took a few in the graden.

This was taken with my 70-200 f4 at f4 130mm

plus a 100% crop

Congrats! I'm looking to make the same purchase. Where did you pick it up?

Off the Sell section here on POTN. I've bought a few pieces of my gear from people on the site via this ection. It seems to work well.

Threads like this about the 5d hurt :P I so badly want a 5d.

Congratulations on the purchase. It must be a big step up from the 1000d in terms of size and also it being FF.

I one day will be posting this exact same thread :) ... not too soon though :(

Congrats! Wait 'til you put your 24-105 on it. Try to determine if it has had the mirror fix done yet. If not Canon will do it for free.

The mirror fix hasn't been done. From the research I did, it seems to be an issue in places with a high humidity. Something to do with the glue Canon use. Canon UK do not do the mirror fix unless it does break, when it will be fixed without charge.

As for FF after the 1000D, the biggest differences have been the view finder (mentioned in OP), the DOF and the bigger size and weight. The 1000D feels like a toy now, but, I still think the 1000D is a great starter camera.

Not a great picture but it highlihghts the narrow depth of field. Shot at f8 with the 24-105 at 75mm. Original photo, re-sized for web and a 100% crop.

Ahh...the wonders of a FF camera! And the bright viewfinder is sooo nice to have!

Enjoy your 5D!
