I captured it a few days ago... I was just playing around using a photoshop technique to bring out the dove more.. Half the image (top) was shaded by tree branches and the lower was in the brighter light but not sunlight... Like I said, just messin around...

It looks like your 'messing around' paid off. Good one, Norman. Nice work.

Thanks Harvey, it's been raining here for 3 weeks and were going to have another week of it... So I thought I'd practice on a few of my lower lit pics... I'm learning.. ;)

One...you got a Dove perched on a stick...rare for a ground feeder.

Two....you got my favorite pose...the look back.

Three...it's sharp.

Not sure what you did (BG looks saturated) but I'm a firm believer in trying new things out and finding a workflow that works best for you.

Hi Duane, you should see the doves here perch on anything, including a feeder that's well kinda small for them, wings flapping just to keep balance at times while they feed.... Yes the BG is a bit saturated and I knew it but just wanted to get some input and I thank you all for it.. Maybe I'll see what I can do change it and what becomes of it...

Nice looking composition Norman, good light on the dove and I think the BG provides a very nice contrast... good work.

Thanks db, this BG is what I was striving for... The original pic was kinda dull and everything was basically in one light, except for light and dark shadows... I wanted to make the bird kinda pop out...

Actually I've been using photoshop for some time now, just for different purposes.. New learning curve for me now with bird photography...

That's a sweet shot -- looks like the dove was in an evening sunbeam.

Thanks Judy, I guess it does, doesn't it.. I have this same pic with the saturation toned down a bit.. Not sure which one I like better...
