Ok, Here I am with my 2-days old/new 50D and in the manual says; High ISO noise reduction and it states the 4 stages, but it will not say how to find it in the menu system. I open the french manual and go thru it, still no luck. Turn on camera again, go thru menu, not there. I download the PDF manual from Canon's site, go thru it, same thing. Went thru the camera's menu numerous times and cannot find it.
Is this possible at all if I don't shoot in RAW or don't use custom setting?
Ok, I normally shoot in AV or TV modes, Fine Jpg. I already figured out most options on this camera, having years of experience with a 30D, but this one drives me nuts. Some of you probably have this camera much longer and already figured it out. Please share the wisdom. Thanks!

Set dail to the "Creative Zone" (P, TV, AV or M), hit Menu, then go to 7th icon (icon of a camera), go to C.FnII: Image, then spot #2... There you will find your 4 settings.

In the USA book, page... 176

Question - does this have to be re-set every time I jump up to 1600 or does it remember that 1600 = 2 steps of NR, 3200 = 4 steps etc. every time I select that ISO?

Au contraire. It is possible only if you don't shoot RAW.
