Every time I turn on my external harddrive lightroom starts up and wants to import photos. Ive already checked off the "import dialog when a memory card is inserted" box but after restarting Lightroom its checked on again.
Somebody help me!

Set "Pictures" and "Mixed Content" to whatever you prefer other than LR 2.4 then make sure you click Save, don't just close the window with the "Red Cross". My collection of boxes with holes

Do you have the operating system set up to assign a letter? Could do something with that, especially if it's a or b. But don't know why it would consider the drive as a memory card. Probably not the case here, and I've never seen it happen. I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Jun 30, 2009 14:58 | #11 I have 4 external harddrives, it does this to each drive when I turn it on. It has something to do with the insert memory card automatic import feature of Lightroom. I cant turn it off. Everytime I do it turns itself on, I can confirm it because the checkbox for this feature is checked on after I have turned it off.

Its no biggie tho I can live with it, I'm used to crap software by now, even by the big guys. Uninstall, remove anything left over in app data as well as every LR2 file other than the catalog, then reinstall. Should clear out all settings and let you make changes to them. And your librarys will be intact, though you will need to remake previews (minor issue). I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else.
