Here's a short video showing the Canon T1i with the Hoodman USA Hoodloupe 3.0 and a 50mm f1.8 Nikkor with Nikon lens to EOS mount adapter.

Aperture control is strictly by manual aperture ring (like in the "good ole days") and focus is also strictly manual. The camera cannot communicate with the lens and therefore cannot control any lens functions.

The short sequence with the model demonstrates the shallow DOF and selective focus that can be achieved outdoors in daylight in video mode.

I hope they will release a firmware that will unlock functions to control these things. But how big chance is that really? I really hope they will anyway..

Good demo Bruce... gotta love that thin DOF and background blurrrrrrr... interesting to see the video difference between crop and FF... showing the same effect of more dof than ff for same framing - as would be expected...

nice - would be good to see you flick to f4 or f8 whilst filming...

i wasnt sure if the full manual controls were made available in the t1i - obviously not.

looks like your having fun with it ! theres a digital video part of the forum too btw... (im sure where this thread will end up..)

Nice clip, Bruce. Also, I can honestly say I never thought Nikon and Nikkor were pronounced like that. I (and everyone I've spoken to here in Australia) pronounce it Nick-on and Nick-or

It's got to be a regional thing. In the US Air Force photo lab environments I worked in, we pronounced it like I did in the video. In Japan and on Taiwan it was commonly pronounced Neekone and Neekkor.

I kind of tended to go with the flow and pronounce things as the people I was conversing with did. Which could get me in trouble if they thought I might be "making fun" of the way they said things, but that's how I learned a little bit of Japanese and Chinese language.

Well, they need to look at losing the around $1000 segment of their market to competitors who will accommodate customer wants.

One Canon rep was quoted as saying to 5D MkII owners "quit crying and just use the camera". But I think what stung them was when they became aware 5D MkII owners were purchasing old manual Nikkor lenses to make it work right.

I just advised Canon we T1i owners were now doing the same thing. They have to look at the issue if they wish to retain position in this part of the market.
