Any recommendations that will fit a gripped 5D2 with 24-70? I have a 7MDH but sometimes don't want to take all my gear. Just need something quick, small and fast.

Prefer a top loader, sling style, or small messenger.

Would a 5MDH be too small?

When I only need my 24-70 on the 5D II, I take my slingshot 200.

I tried a 5MDH with my 50D and grip and it was extremely tight and wouldn't close correctly.

How about the Lowepro Toploader Pro 70AW:

I personally have the Tamrac 5630 for lugging the 70-200 around:

I have a 6MDH and 5MDH, the 5MDH I used this past weekend with that same exact camera and lens, it was semi-tight but worked. I have the older model 5MDH, with one velcro and no silencers.

+1. The Think Tank Holster 20 would fit nicely. Has expandability in case you want to carry a longer lens instead, or with the hood in ready position... Very nicely built too.

Wouldn't the Think Tank Holster 40 be more suited, since the OP is using a gripped 5DMKII?

Went to local camera shop yesterday @ lunch. I took a look at the Think Tank holsters. I think it would fit quite nicely but I just don't like the way it looks.

Took a look at the Domke-F3x and I like the way it looks better. Just by looking at it, it looks like it would fit what I am requiring. Unfortunately didnt have my camera with me. Might go back and try it again.

They didn't have any 5MDH's for me to look at either.

I think I'm leaning towards Domke or 5MDH but want to verify if it will fit with the grip

Oops! You're right. I missed the part where he mentioned he has a grip... But anyways, the OP doesn't like the look of the TT Holsters.

Josh,

I do not have a grip on my 5DMKII, sorry, but I know you can turn the camera in such a position to where it would fit with the grip.
I know the 5MDH will be tall enough to put the camera in lens down (24-70mm f/2.8 L), I did it with mine this weekend. These pictures prove the grip will fit as well.

Here are some pictures of someone with the 5MDH and a gripped camera...the camera is a smaller camera, but I know the 5DMKII fits, again, as I used it this weekend.

And here are a few reviews with ideas of what all you can get into these bags...

TT Digital Holster 40 (external link) if you don't need more than a couple of CF's and the batterycharger.

This is kind of surprising. I was thinking about getting a 5MDH too so its good to know. My 6MDH (mines the old style) holds my gripped 30D and a 24-70 with plenty of room in the bad for another lens and a flash. But its not that light or small. The reason why I was thinking of a 5MDH for those times when you want to travel lighter. Those holsters look interesting.
