I been thinking about upgrading to the 50D. Wanting to know what do I have to upgrade on the Canon Software that can with the 30D. I currently on that and Rebel XT. I just light room and CS3 for editing. I ask this because I don't want to download a lot of extra software. I use the remote shoot in the EOS Utility and that's about it for canon software. I currently have Zoom browser 6.0.1.

You will have to upgrade because the old Canon SW will not recognize the new RAW file format of the 50D. It's no big deal to download and upgrade, you won't lose anything and the space taken is about the same. All the old features and functions are still in the new SW. Also, the SW comes with the Camera, so you'll have discs vs downloading.

Plus the DPP software should come with the 50D.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

My biggest thing is not being about to view my file from all 3 camera in one software. I use the EOS Utility for remote shooting and Lightroom for everything else.

You won't have any problem with viewing all of your files. The new versions are backwards compatible.
