What's a good price for the MK I version of the 85L? Also, is the MK II much improved over the MK I. I know about the faster AF, but anything else?

Cannot remember if there was also a bit better corner sharpness or not? Going rate seems to be in the $1100-1200 range, which is where mine ended up selling at. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

I have the opportunity to buy one for ~ $900, so you think it's worth it?

If the glass (and body hopefully) is clean, absolutely. I loved that lens and only sold it to help purchase a house. I will have one again. You will love the lens! That is exactly what I did with mine, I picked mine up in a larger package and thought I would flip it, but when I played with it over the weekend of purchase, I couldn't let it go. Kept it for a year or more until I had to get rid of it. Enjoy! Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery
