Anyone have pictures of an Urban Disguise 35 in use? Basically how is it carried? I see hand straps on most of the photos (Google image search). Are there backpack style straps as well? Is there a single shoulder strap?

What about some photos with a laptop inserted for scale?

Thanks.

Sorry I don't have any pictures ... but I do have one of the UD35 bags and really like it. It does have 2 leather wrapped handles as shown, and also comes with a shoulder strap and fixed position pad.

Think Tank has a separate product of a strap arrangement which turns it into a backpack of sorts (I don't have one). It appears to carry the bag at the top with a strap which goes around the 2 handles, which will have to be removed to get into the bag.

It is the only UD bag which is "designed" to carry a gripped body or pro-sized body while mounted on a lens (as opposed to the body in the front pocket). When the divider is arranged for this configuration, there is only room in the laptop compartment for a "Netbook" sized computer. If you use a standard sized body with no grip, the laptop compartment will hold a 13.5" computer such as a Macbook or Macbook Air. It is also tall enough to carry a camera mounted 70-200/2.8 or 100-400 zoom.

Hope this helps,
-howard

I have the shoulder harness and use it with my UD50 - it's fantastic, allows me to bike with my gear with no problem and is also useful for travelling, ie - getting around airports. Folds up reasonably small - for $30 you really should have one if you have an Urban Disguise bag.

Hi. See my post here - I've posted pictures part way down the page.

It comes with a shoulder strap and you can purchase the shoulder harness that allows it to be carried like a backpack.

Needsnow: Can you confirm what hfgarris stated about a gripped body not fitting in the UD35 if you have a 13" laptop?

That's my main concern. I'm looking to do exactly that.

I just read your thread in depth, and I guess I answer my own question.

I may have to look around more for a different bag.

My Macbook Air or unibody Macbook pretty much fill the computer compartment at the back of the bag. The UD35 is designed such that the top 3.25" of the 13.25" available space can be re-allocated to additional depth of the main camera compartment to accommodate the grip on the bottom of the camera.

One other option would be to carry the gripped body in the front pocket separate from the lenses as in other UD bags. I think this makes the bag undesirably thick for my use. Some other threads have discussed putting a gripped body in the UD60 as it is large enough to "mold" to the additional space requirements.

Thanks, Howard. That clarifies a lot.

I like the UD35's size and it seems very minimal to carry a laptop, camera, and some gear, which is what I'm looking for. I may get it and learn to cope with not being able to fit a gripped body with lens attached into the main compartment.

I don't want to get the UD60 because the bag size is significantly bulkier.

Just a follow-up, I decided to order the UD35 and received it yesterday.

It actually can hold my 13" MBP and a gripped 40D with lens without any issues.

That last photo is of the UD35 zippers closed with the gripped 40D and 13" MBP. Doesn't bulk out much at all.

I just went out and got this bag to place my UD50. I was able to fit my 14" laptop with no problems!
