How a little camera tilt can ruin a shot

Is there anyway to fix it through rotation without taking out pieces of the wave?

It's a great shot. Surf photgraphy is extremely hard, and near impossible for someone who isn't a surfer (as the statue famously known as the Cardiff Kook proves---the artist claimed to be a surfer----yeah, right).

Obviously you are, in fact, a surfer to know that this was a good shot.

Have you considered attaching a level to your waterhousing? Do you have a built-in level?

By the way, I'm doing my best to identify the spot. I would think Blacks, but I don't remember trees on the cliff like that.

Is this Santa Cruz? I don't know SC well at all (only surfed there once, and it was at Cowell's, the longboard spot and I was on a borrowed board).

I grew up in San Diego.

Thank you. bw!

Best I could do (and it's nothing). I stink at PP.

I bet somebody could make it work a lot better than I could with PP. Work with it. You might have something good there. My edit destroyed the surfer's and wave's features. Way too soft.

Hey Mike,
It is actually in Bali, Bingin Bukit to be specific.
Nice Edit!

I have a ton of great shots from the trip,
i just wanted to see what people thought of the crooked "killed" perspective.

I try to never crop because in the water i can only afford a 20D, I detest losing IQ as a result of cropping.

Generally it is very easy to keep the camera somewhat level ( this is miles off) but i was avoiding getting hit by the surfer out of the frame :(

I have never worried about water shots being crooked... it is just a fact that it is gunna happen... especially when shooting FE... (fish eye)...

a tip which might help.. become ambidextrous... it helps with angles....

While it's a bit too crooked for my tastes, it's not bad by any means. Honestly I like the tilt - just not that much. A flat/leveled image wouldn't work for me.
