noisy, slow-hunting AF really turned me down. then there is the QC that really turned me off.

dashing for the 17-55 instead...

Lol not that noisy, or that slow AF compared with the kit lens, to an L lens definately. I haven't experienced any QC issues, and to be honest the 17-55 being nearly five times the price I would hope its better!

did you find a 50D body in canada for 900$?!?

No. Not a chance. And I'd only upgrade to a 7D or older 1D series (or 5D Classic). Will probably look into doing so late summer before I go back to school. Stuff is so expensive here, even used.

Thanks for the great suggestions everyone, I understand that there wouldn't be a significant difference upgrading to 500D but what about 50D? I will be selling my XS as I can get a good price for it along with the kit lenses, what should I buy then? I can stretch my budget for the 7D with the kit lens 15-85 but do I really need it? I am not a serious photographer and I only do it for fun like most of you.

Of course the camera body alone won't help with better image quality but I am sure that it will with a better glass and as I said my non IS kit glasses aren't great but at the start they were ok as I was learning.

What should I buy if I do sale my XS?

BTW I have the 18-55 and 75-300mm non IS Kit Lens.

I would definitely go for the 7D. Since as you said earlier, video capabilities with a dslr. Even if ou are just a casual shooter. I think the 7d is a great choice.

I'd advise the 50D as long as you don't end up whining for not having video capabilities. From my understanding, a casual photographer (like me and you) only get better ISO performance by upgrading the body (speaking about usable real-life features that I'd really use). Then you can save a bit and get better glass or some fine bottles of whatever pleases you.

Covered bridge not far from where I live. Pedestrians only. Picture taken at ground level, on a -30 degrees stormy day... so please excuse the incorrect leveling. My "natural thermometer" said it was time to hurry up! lol

EXIF in image

PP: color filter, bumped contrast, vignette, resized, sharpened

oversharpened? huge contrast kinda makes the snow flakes a little fake. What do you guys think?

Something feels slightly off. The processing is fine, but I would have centred the larger board at the bottom there. The way it is now makes the rest of the image feel kind of slanted, or maybe it is anyway.. I don't know, hard to explain.

Also, hope you didn't go out today. The wind was no joke.

The board to the left is the center, or it seems so as there are 13 boards. I do agree centering or a crop would look better.

I wanted the footprint to be dead centered. and yes it is a bit off-level.

Nope... didn't go out. Lesson learned! haha I'm going skating on the Canal this afternoon tho... I'll bring up the cam.
