What do you guys think of this picture?

QUOTED IMAGE

I took it with my 55-250mm IS at 250mm. I was at my friend's wedding last night and loved how it looked with the light shining at it.

Looks crooked.

Nothing Photoshop can't fix! :D

lowincash its either out of focus, or your shutter speed is way to slow!

exif says 1/13. even with IS at 250mm... pretty hard to get a steady shot with this light disposition

Try those shots with the nifty fifty I am sure you will notice the difference :)

I actually took quite a few shots of these, both with the kit lens and the nifty fifty. I couldn't seem to to get good results with the nifty (lack of sharpness) despite using tripod and remote shutter! The kit lens enabled me to get closer in and seemed to give a better result.....anyhow I am just starting out so what do I know!

I am thinking of getting a Tamron 18-270, as I want both reach for wildlife and macro capability and budget is limited - anyone any thoughts on this lens??

Thanks
Dave

Yes don't buy it:) If your not happy by the fifty's sharpness you definately won't be impressed by that lens! Superzooms are softer than butter! Why not a 70-200L F4? Or Sigma Equivalent? Hell I'm probably going to sell my Tamron 70-300 if you want that for an offer:)

max iso, max aperture. he couldn't go any faster to get a decent exposure. next step would've been a tripod. but do you really carry a tripod at a friend's wedding?! well I don't. I'm too busy drinking!!!!!:D:D haha

Two things that come to mind - first if your using a tripod - did you turn off the stabilizer? What was the aperture? Sometimes anything above F11 will not give you shaprness. As stated - you already have to great lens - many photo's here to prove it.

Its pratice, reset, pratice, reset - over and over again.

Hey Altares, just a small tip. If that's the Papyrus font you're using for the watermark, I suggest you change the font very very soon. ;)

there is not a mode better than another. depends of what you're shooting and what effects you'd like to achieve

usually, at night, ppl do landscapes. So a long exposure is required. something between 15-30 secs would be good with low iso (tripod has to be used). If you're shooting ppl or moving subjects, bump up the iso and stop down the aperture. then good luck on keeping your camera rock steady! :p

I wonder why you're saying that. I hope you can tell me more. What about the font?

Straight out of camera

sharpened and resized in PS that's all

I had a hard time straightening it due to the perspective being upwards and to the right at the same time.
