I just bought lightroom 2 yesterday, it's really powerful and easy to learn. I just used a local adjustment brush to manually desaturate the background. I used a smaller brush size when I got close to the flower. You can get loads of free presets to add new effects. (It took about an hour to do, would have been quicker but I was talking on the phone at the same time)

There isn't an abundance of ducks around here at the moment, so I shot a few while I was in the Dominican.

I have had my XS for almost a year now. The XS is my first DSLR and I love it!! Here is a shot of my sisters dog, at a dog show.

i just bought one used from some one with the standard lens and a 75-300mm lens. Wish it had IS since my hand is super shaky. Have not had a chance to take lots of photos. Can you guys tell me what are the best settings to take slightly close up photos and have the background blurred?

ON another note...CAN'T WAIT for my 17-40 to get here. The guy I bought it off of is dropping it off at the post office drop box today so it has all day tomorrow to start coming to me. Shouldn't take too long since it's only a 1-1.5 hour drive from where he's shipping to me :p

Don't tell anyone outside of this thread you got the 17-40 over the 17-55. They might kill you.
