Haven't posted anything in a while. One of my favourite, and easiest subjects:

Handheld, f/1.8, 1/30, ISO 1600, 430 EXII bounced off ceiling.

2nd day with my XS (my first DSLR)
went to the track to take pictures of my brother, of about 500 picture, 400 were focused properly and about 50 were really stellar, the other 350 are still very usable though.

All photos:
-handheld
-ISO 100
-Rebel XS
-18-55mm Kit lens most pics around 55mm
-WB to daylight setting
-shutter speed and aperture value differ from shot to shot.
all photos had some sharpening, color correction, and slight over saturation in PP

How did you get the camera to focus on 2 flowers and not 1?

I'm assumeing the flowers were close enough to the same distance from the camera so that they were both in focus.
Or he used HSR or something forgot what it's called. It stiches together the infocus regions of multiple photos

based on the exif, it was shot at f5. so even if the 2 flowers were not on the same plane of sight, they are still near each other not to be affecting the focus because aperture is just f5. there is blurring of the background because it was shot on a long end (50mm), background is far from the subject and the lens is close to the subject :D of course, granting that no manipulation is done for the blurring :D

both flowers were fairly close to each other so they were both about the same distance away from me, I just experimented with different apertures until I got one that I liked.
