You can buy "wireless remotes" off ebay. Little bit bulkier than a plain infa red remote but does the trick!

Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com …3ca899ec1f#ht_2401wt_1165 (external link)

I got one and it works just fine, at least up to 40ft from the camera. It does have that cheap plastic feel to it, because it is cheap plastic! But at that price.......

I don't use my 1000D as much as I used to, but, last week I was travelling light (few days in Amsterdam) and didn't want the weight and bulk of my 5D so grabbed the 1000D and kit lens.

I missed the wider aperture of my other lens, I didn't miss the weight of my 5D and 24-105 that is for sure.

Here are a couple from the trip.

perhaps he upgraded to a different camera, something makes me think I saw him post on another camera thread. I could be wrong though. it should show on his signature if he has a different camera.

This camera has treated me well and here's one of the last pic I took using this camera. I think if not for this camera, I would be too intimidated by dslr cameras and would not have gotten into photography lol

Some new shots wandering around Vancouver today, enjoying the olympic atmosphere. Really wish I had a telephoto! I am also starting to feel like I am using to much USM on my photos...

Hi all,

I'm new here but have been lurking and looking at your pics for a few days... sorry!

I'm about to get my first DSLR and I think I've settled on the 1000D - I just have one question I can't seem to get a firm answer on. I'll be looking at getting the twin lens kit with the 18-55 and 75-300 lenses - do the kit ones have IS? That was quite a big selling point for me because I have an aversion to tripods. Well, to carrying them anyway, and whilst I think the 18-55 would be okay I'm not convinced it'd be worth getting the 75-300 without the IS.

Thanks!

Laura
