I got my 1000d and 18-55 IS kit from the canon UK out let, it was a refurb with 12 months warranty, but when it came, it was in a pristine if not new box, and I would have said the whole lot was new.

best bit was it was £245 inc shipping.......

wow you got a bargain, and I thought £300 for mine was cheap

Some shots from a walk-around downtown Ottawa this fall. I finally took the time to process them.

One is @ 18, the rest are at 55, so I'd guess they were all taken with his 18-55.

Hello, time for me to display my lack of knowledge again...
What is 'mirror lock up'?
When would you use it?
How do you do it?

Thanks...

it flips the mirror up and it makes it stay up until after you have taken your shot. it can increase sharpness in certain circumstances because the vibrations from the mirror can sometimes cause movement. normally it flips up when you push the shutter button and goes back down again. try it, you should hear the mirror go up and then a quiet click when you take your shot, then it goes back down again.

what would be the best lens to get for an overall lens? I use my 28-135 almost 90% of time but looking to get something a little quicker and cleaner.
