This is a shot I took of my son in the living room. We were standing next to the window for natural light and that made the background black. It worked out really well considering it was impromptu. :)

You never use MF? Really? I tend to use it a lot, but I just like being able to have more control over my shots.

YankeeMom: Very nice shot, I actually like it a lot.

Really? You should try it, you can't always rely on auto focus or IS :D Honestly give it a try its liberating!

Kristin - Nice shot, great lighting!

Corey and Matty - How is manual focus give you *any* more control over your shots? For focus control, I just manually select my AF point, it will focus wherever you want it to.

If your focus is in between one of our 6 focus points, then what? You either have to change your zoom or your position. Or you could manual focus on the exact spot that you want. I just feel like it gives me a tool to fine tune my shots with, when I feel like getting technical.

Paul, you're from PbNation aren't you?

Yeah, I'm Sifio. For situations like that, I just tilt the camera a bit, I'm usually not so picky with my framing. I'm scared of manual focus because I'm afraid to get it slightly off, and using Live View to precisely manual focus is inconvenient for me.

Some shots I took today with a lightbox I made with a cereal box...
