it's a nice pic but i'm not sure if you would really gain much from hdr since it was taken at night and there wouldn't be many highlights to take advantage of hdr, it's mainly shadows and midtones.

I just got my XS a week ago. I'm confused as to what aperture and f-stop are for. Tips and ideas are VERY welcome. =)

It gained the sky and grass which were both just black on the correct exposure shot, also the markings on the runway and the link on the rear.

I don't know why but I kinda like this shot:

fair enough, it's a good shot, nice deep blue tones in the sky. Have you taken any nice landscapes of new zealand raizer? I thought nz had some incredible scenery just like scotland. Didn't they film lotr there? My cousin emigrated there.

NZ has some absolutely stunning scenery. They did film LOTR here and the Narnia films.
I have many photos, but not many yet with the Canon.
There are lots here if you scroll back a few months: http://clubley.blogspot.com/ (external link)
And these are from a trip to Raizer's part of NZ:

That was from one of the lookouts on the way back to Napier. We drove up from Wellington, picked up a ute that my mate bought on Trademe then back to Napier for the night. Then drove back to Wellington in the morning!
Bit of a flying visit to Gisborne.
I'm doing a similar trip tomorrow to pick up some car parts - Wellington to Auckland tomorrow morning then back to Wellington on Sunday!
Will try to make a few stops and take nice photos :D

your hdr shots are great raizer, I hadn't actually thought of using hdr for sunsets.

nice blog you have there rob, we have similar beaches and hills on harris, just a pity we don't always get nice weather here.
