My guess is to get the best depth of field possible...(reason why f/8). That way everything stays in focus. (or most of it! ) Its a great shot indeed!

a drop it on water, and shoot with high shutter speed when it touched the water.. its shot with shutter speed 1/200, and using speedlite as its lighting..

I tried to get the water splashes not so blurred.. so I used low aperture..

This was my first attempt at a pano. Taken a couple of weeks back at Houston Raceway and just got round to processing it. It's interesting how the angle of shots etc ended up distorting the track (which of course is straight!) but I still thought it was cool.
