gordon67 I meant to say your skies look really purple on my huey calibrated monitor? The sky has a strong purple hue to it.

In mine they look a deep blue, no purple anywhere.

I don't see any hint of purple in the sky of those photos, my monitor is calibrated with a spyder 3 elite. I didn't change any of the colour balance in those photos, other than daylight wb preset and curves adjustment to darken the tones, oh and I used landscape mode. Perhaps your huey has given you a bad calibration?

does your huey allow you to use your monitor's rgb sliders to adjust the white point? this might give you a more accurate calibration. I know when I calibrate mine, my monitor's 6500k preset is way off until I adjust it with rgb sliders. make sure your gfx drivers are up to date too, drivers can sometimes cause a cast.

They look mid to deep blue on my uncalibrated screen, no traces of purple at all

What program are you using to resize the photos?
And what settings are you using?

Irfanveiw is a free program that I have found to be pretty good at resizing jpegs with, using the resample option.

I've been using photo gadget...800x640.
I e-mail and post pictures on a chat line.
The pictures have to be under 100kb.

Thanks I'll try the program you suggested.

I tried a small diffuser to the built-in flash.

WOW, my wife was walking by the computer when i was looking at this flower and she even stopped and said, "wow, nice picture!"

I'll add my vote to the deep blue also. Uncalibrated HD 10,000:1 monitor with brand new vid card.

I'm thrilled. Just ordered the XS and got it for $425, including shipping (kit lens included). Hopefully it will be in by next weekend. I had an XS before, and regrettably sold it. Now I'm back to the DSLR game, and am very excited. Can't wait to post photos. What a great camera!

Thank you. bw!
