Ok I am new to the game of Canon Rebel XS. Just got one last night took it out of the box and charged battery etc. ok it has an option on it "shoot w/o card" and that option is turned on. I tried to take a pic and it says it took BUT i can not view anything. What am I doing wrong? I did not buy a memory card yet but do I have to have a memory card before i can do anything with this camera?????? like i said i and new tot he game please help

the only way your camera is going to be able to "store" the photo you took without a memory card is tethered to a computer.

And it's use is for shooting w/o a card...ie store demo's, checking various things, remote tethering (what I was talking about above)

Hey buddy, new guy here too. I also did this and yes, the only way the picture will save is if it has a place to be saved to. So you will need to buy a memory card for it. But to just play around with the options, you could use a very long USB cable and attach the camera to your computer and save them directly to the pc as you go.

A couple from the garden nearly there, will try a faster shutter speed next time..

If any of you have kids, this setup is what they use at the mall when you have the wee ones sit with Santa or the Easter bunny. The camera has no card but is linked to the monitor/computer they use for you to pick your pics.

hye guyz..i wanna ask something,i will have trip to europe next week..i wanna to know what is better for traveling,50mm f1.8 or 55-250mm..which one is better for traveling?

I doubt you'll really need the reach of the 55-250. And the 50 1.8 is going to give you better low light pictures which you'll need during twilight outdoors. So I'd say the 50 1.8

Why not bring both?

Do you have the kit lens? That would likely be better than both the 50 and 55-250.
