u think kitlens is more better?..

Better for a trip to Europe, yes. I've never been, but if you were to search the forums you'd likely find lots of people recommending something wider than 50mm.

Hi everyone, I just bought my Rebel XS 2 days ago and found this thread that same night. This is my first SLR and I am looking forward to messing around with the settings and learning all that I can. I hope to one day be able to take pictures half as nice as the ones that I am seeing on here.

Here are some samples, cc appreciated :)

Please keep in mind that these are straight out of the camera and my first attempt at manual anything. All shots are with the EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens.

You move pretty quick to be shooting in manual!

#1 perhaps crop a little lower, the bright window pulls my eye up there away from the child, the flowers look good. Keep shooting!

Hi guys. I just purchased a rebel xs+kitlens+55-250. It will be arriving on thursday. For the past 3 years ive been using a powershot S3. I'm definitely looking forward to learning from my first SLR. I'm leaving for an internship at Eldorado National Forest and plan on bringing back tons of pictures.

Question though. Do you guys take pictures in RAW and then PP them or JPEG AND THEN PP? I'm not a photoshop wiz but I know how to adjust contrast, brightness, deph of field. Should I take pictures in JPEG or RAW?

Cute dog. Pic seems to be in focus only over the dog's nose. I would recommend a higher f stop maybe in the 8 to 10 range to get everything in focus. Nice use of flash.

I just got back from being "away" on business and got caught up on the pages, great shots everyone! I had my first gallery show last week and it went well. It was a small place and I only got to hang about 8 large prints but it was a great experience and def helped with networking and getting some more jobs. I love my xs!!!! A quick question......What is everyone's favorite lens to use with this camera? I love the results I get with my 50 1.8 and my sigma EX 70 - 200 2.8, but what is your favorite lens to use with this wonderful little beauty?

Most of my shots in this thread are with the 50 1.8. Definitely my favorite so far. :)

Can someone please help, I have recently purchased a Canon 1000D, literally used it 3 times and it's not working!

There is nothing on the display, (I have tried all buttons incase I'd pushed something) and it will not take a picture no matter what setting I have it on. I would just take it back to the shop but I bought it in John Lewis and I live in Portugal so would need to fly back to UK to take it back :(

The camera does focus, very slowly, but no shutter noise and no display whatever I do. I can't view pics I've taken or anything.

Is it something I've done or do you think I have a duff camera?

Many thanks in advance
Gemma
