It turns out the 1000d is pretty indestructible, over the past 2.5 years i have got mine wet, got it cold, got it hot, banged and knocked it about and last night it faced the destructive power of over 158db of pure bass and still works like a champ lol i do love my little work horse

I had a 1000D and learn alot from it. Then I upgraded to a 5Dc and learnt so much more and am still learning. If youre only interested in taking PHOTOS I would go straight to a 5Dc and not bother with ANY other body. 5Dc can be had so cheap now.

Don't do it.
First of all, it's not that much of an upgrade. Second, the 1000D is really nifty and clean, small, practical, excellent IQ... and it's used market value is relatively low, it's not worth selling it.

I got me a 50D. I almost sold my 1000D... at the last minute I pulled back the deal.
D*mn camera is awsome. I'd be regreted if I'd sold it.
