Get mine back from a warranty repair tomorrow and can't wait. I've been using my brothers 600D and apart from the screen I'm not all that impressed by it, the 1000D files have a "nicer", which is subjective, feel to them

Hello,
I picked up one of these off craigslist today for my wife. Not too much experience with anything other than point and click cameras, well I can do a panoramic on my droid, but it still looks terrible.

Anyways I did not check out the camera very well because I didn't know how and it has a problem; I was hoping someone can help me determine the problem + solution. It will not autofocus. When in autofocus mode and the shutter button is half way down you hear it clicking and trying to do its thing but no focusing occurs. Do you all suspect it is just the lens or the camera as well? Any hope that we can get this working? The lens is the Image Stabilizer EFS 18-55mm; I believe it is the stock lens.

In manual mode everything seems fine, then menus and such work fine, and the camera aesthetically is in great shape. I have tried restoring it to factory settings.

Trying out the kenko dgx tc with my 1000D+17-50mm tamron today, it just came back from a warranty repair with an extra 7-8 dust bunnies on the sensor :rolleyes: but still got a sensor cleaning kit left
