Sound like a good plan, although I would rent out a 100-400 (fairly cheap). Push pull is nice for airshow and so is the range. If you have cash, then definitely rent a 300 f/2.8 or 500 ![]() But if I had 2 bodies or 3, I would keep 100-400 (or longer) on the best body, 70-200 on backup and 17-40 on worst. Sounds great with the 100-400!!! 50D | 1000D | 30V | 17-40L | 18-55 USM | 24-105L | 28 2.8 | 50 1.8 II | 70-300 IS | 580EX II | 430EX II

(Sometimes, I found the 200mm too narrow, I shot mostly between 70 and 135mm!) But you have no idea what happened... I had to shoot THE WHOLE SHOW with my trusty 1000D!!! With no apparent reason, my 50D drained both batteries (full) overnight!!! My surprise when I picked it up to shoot and it was dead... Nice, looking forward to seeing them! The 100-400L is super popular airshow lens My Website

The 100-400L is super popular airshow lens ![]() That's a real shame, maybe something was jammed or you left the camera on? My only explanation is that maybe I left the camera on... and putting it inside the backpack, the shutter release button became half-pressed, engaging the image stabilization, thus, draining all battery. 50D | 1000D | 30V | 17-40L | 18-55 USM | 24-105L | 28 2.8 | 50 1.8 II | 70-300 IS | 580EX II | 430EX II
