I got it for more FPS.

congrats on your new body. :-) I went from an XS to a 40D. There's not really much difference at all, aside from FPS and a few other features, but I also wanted something that felt sturdier to grip.

I think I had mentioned in an earlier post....I was vacation and taking pictures of waterfalls. Well the rocks were slipper and I went tumbling down onto the rocks (http://i690.photobucket.com …hil21080/LaCoca_small.jpg (external link)). I had my 40D in my hand, and it struck a rock (although I don't think it hit very hard). I ended up with, I'd say an ink pen tip size nick on the metal body between my LCD and control wheel. Had it been my XS, it might have cracked the plastic body :-(

better start stocking up on some compact flash cards now :-)

Yeah, I read that. Probably would have. Oh yes I am looking at cf cards now, the one that I do have is from my husbands old scouting camera and it only 128mb.

Any idea where to get the best price?

when I got my 40D, I purchased some CF cards from Amazon.

I went to Staples and Best Buy, and their 4GB Extreme II cards were around $50. I went on Amazon and found a 4GB extreme III card for $28...and their 8GB extreme III cards are $50. Difference between the Extreme II and Extreme III is 15MB/s and 30MB/s.

8GB

4GB

and if you don't have a CF card reader, some of the stores on Amazon will offer a free CF reader when you purchase a card, just gotta watch the special deals.

Those came out great -- love the blue tone and the bokeh. Nice and sharp, too. :)

I haven't had to send my body in to Canon yet, just a lens. Would they automatically update your firmware for you while it's in their possession?
