So craving something wider than the 18-55 kit lens, I bought a used Tokina 12-24 f4 last week. Have to say, its pretty awesome! I don't think I will ever use the 18-55 again, as I rarely ever used the range between the two ends, and I have the 50 1.8 and the 55-250 for the long end.

Although, I'm going to do a comparison test of the Tok 12-24 and the 18-55 soon, I'll post results here fyi.

Here are some early shots with the Tokina 12-24. One thing I really like about the UWA is that you can handhold at relatively low shutter speeds and get good results.

nice. only problem with ultra-wide is the distortion it can cause. check out your mall pic, and see how the walls are seem to spread out as you go up? Or the cage walls do the opposite, and get closer together as they go up? there are plug-ins and filters to correct them though.

That's very true! The cage photo distortion was actually much worse than what you see, I did some distortion correction in DPP on that one.

Yeah, I read that. Probably would have. Oh yes I am looking at cf cards now, the one that I do have is from my husbands old scouting camera and it only 128mb.

Any idea where to get the best price?

Got a Costco in your area? Or a Micro Center? Around here, those are the places with the best prices.

She must have probably processed it from a single RAW file?
Nice pic btw Lisa. Liked the subtle treatment.

@ Gordon
Nice picture. That logo is an eye sore though.

ah ok. that's how I do all of my HDR pics. I just use a single RAW file...especially if it's a pic of something moving...kind of hard to take 3 consecutive pics otherwise.

Thanks for the advice, I can't seem to create a watermark that is both subtle but also effective. Whenever I create a semi transparent watermark, I find it hard to see on certain photos depending on the background colour. I thought making a wee watermark in the corner would be better. Any ideas for a better one?
