WOW...Xavier great shot. I'd imagine some of your shots would look great printed 8x10.

I'll take a look...

And man, I just went to Future Shop and they had the 7D out. What a beauty. I spent 20 minutes with it just playing with the video and taking pictures of the display cameras. So expensive here in Canada, $2599. I'll bet some people are waiting for our dollar to reach parity to snatch that thing up in the States. But yeah, makes our XS look a little silly. I compared them side by side and couldn't help but laugh. Haha.

Thanks Paul! I'll be honest, I've only ever printed 2 of my shots. 8x10 Prints. Really need to find a good printing lab here. Anyway, today's Diwali - the Hindu festival of light. It's like what Christmas is in the west. Here are a few pics I shot 2 hours ago.

Took my new toy out with the kids for a play today. Got a Tamron 70-300 as well and only took this.

Lots to learn with this baby but it's going to be fun.

Gordon, every time you post pics of your home area, I feel what must be something akin to an ancestral memory telling me I need to go there. My ancestors were from Kirkcudbright, which isn't exactly next door to ya, but from all the way over here in Texas, it seems like it. A really beautiful setting you have at your disposal.

Has anybody here tried the Tenpa eyepiece magnifier on their XS yet?

See:

and

http://www.tenpa.us/en/ (external link)

I regularly use manual focus lenses with my XS, and focusing can be a real chore with this camera. After many years of shooting 35mm SLRs, I just can't get used to the XS's tiny, squinty viewfinder, and it is simply not possible to use Live View in all situations. Besides, my eyes aren't quite what they used to be, so . . . Anything that will increase the size of the viewfinder a bit is most welcome.

I've found one review so far, from a guy who installed it on both his Olympus and Panasonic DSLRs. He likes it. Just wondering how well it works on the XS in particular.

Never seen that before, but I'll agree about the small viewfinder. Especially after playing around with the 7D today and then using the XS about an hour later, that's one of the first things I noticed.

Glad you like my pic. It is very beautiful here and a photo just can't do this island justice, you really need to be here to appreciate the culture, the friendly locals and of course the wildlife and scenery. Not everyone would want to live here though, for some it can be too remote, too cut off from the big cities (I am from Glasgow).

Some things about the XS that are just minor inconveniences are the small viewfinder, low framerate, lack of video, light weight...But none of these actually affect the pictures you take
