I wonder how many Nanos you'll be able to get for the price of one HD? On the other hand, Maybe HD should move their manufacturing to India.;)

If they do not manufacture in India each bike will be subject to 110% import tax!

But there are still people who will buy them.

I bought a brand new 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet last month, it is about the most expensive bike you can buy in India and it cost me.. Brand new and on the road ........ £1,200 ($2000)

not my Pic so here is a LINK (external link)

HERE (external link) is the official pic, it's the first bike I have ever owned where I have found it's name embarrassing.

We in the states could solve so many problems if we would only adopt a similar stance.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Especially on energy.

Do you ever get the feeling we're being a little 'manipulated' on oil prices.

Try paying UK prices....

today's average is 105p per litre, unleaded...

£1.05 per litre => £3.969 per US Gallon
throw in the exchange rate of £1 = $1.65

so that means the UK would be paying (on average): $6.54 per gallon of basic unleaded fuel - during last years peak, it was $8 USD per gallon...

What portion of that is taxes though? My daughter in Japan pays high prices for fuel as well, but then the tax on other stuff is really low. I'm thinking it all averages out in the end

I would suspect the entire difference is taxes. Oil is sold in a world market, and I'm fairly sure everyone is paying a similar price for crude.

(Except for the UK who has worked out a sweetheart deal with Lybia.)

56% basic rate, then add on Value Added Tax (VAT) of 15% which will go back up to 17.5% once the world economy is settled...

And you get a nice chunky 71% of that money is tax....

So I think I'm doing the math right. In Illinois gas tax is 58 cents per gallon. I paid $2.56 this morning so the gas actually cost $1.98 so the tax is 22% of the total cost.
