'Circumstances' dictate that I won't be buying any more equipment for a very long time, if ever. I was happy to learn that the 7D is a crop body because I'm raelly locked into FF from here on. I have a 40D, and two EF-S lenses (10-22 and 17-85), and I rarely use them, especially since buying the 5D2.

Oh dear, that bad? :(

I am mostly into FF as well, except I have the Three Stubborn EF-S that simply won't go away ;) 17-85, 10-22, 60 macro and I like them all.

OK. I suspect "Circumstances" wields a nasty rolling pin and has the power to make you invest in a dog house as your next piece of real estate, right? ;)

I use the 40D only when I require a crop camera with fast-firing capability, which isn't often. When I need it, I do need it, but not all that often.

So I had a call last night from the top boss in Australia, who has practically thrown me a job opportunity in Brisbane, Australia for a mid-January start...

I need to think carefully on whether I would want to take such a big jump or not...talk about giving me a short time to think about it ~ before we even talk wages!

Nah. Nothing like that, Yoda. It's just the economy. In two years, we've gone from being fairly well off to stone broke. It will be a long time before we make any frivolous purchases.

I was hoping that it wasn't this case....

There are some people who need to be taught a lesson for living beyond their means but you certainly aren't one of them.

My only consolation is we're not alone. One day you go to be feeling pretty good about things. In two years, you wake up and realize that a sizable net worth has miraculously been transformed into a negative number (and still sinkin).

Arnie has no bailout budget. He's proposing a statewide 'garage sale' to generate cash.

Who has cash?

I hear you Chief...those who are lucky to work for the government get those lovely golden handshakes when they leave....The rest of us are pretty much screwed, and have to work till we die.

My only saving grace about myself, is that I didn't start to work properly until 2002, so when everything took a major downturn after Sept 11th back in '01, I did not lose any monies...but since then, things have been in utter turmoil.....Not good to see people virtually losing everything.

Makes me glad for all the years I sacrificed building for the future even as everybody was partying it up, spending like there was no tomorrow, living on the bubble and shoving it in my face. I missed out on the good years because of the sacrifice and a lot of it too..... but I'm glad that it's helped me ride out the storm and bought me the freedom to move on.

Yeah, it sounds like you and I were in the same boat. Pretty grisley stuff!
