Yesterday, someone started a thread about 70 years ago and the horrors unleashed upon the world. In a more pleasant vein, 75 years ago today something very special happened right here in the mountains of NC and TN....President Franklin Roosevelt created the Great Smoky Mountains National Park....America's most visited national treasure.

Nice cactus. Where was that one taken?

In the Superstition Mountains.

They still fascinate me....and the fact that there is still tons and tons of gold there makes it even more interesting. I would love to just wander around up there for a few days. :D

Ah, but remember that those who go hunting for the gold never return!

So what if you went up there hunting for something else and stumble upon the gold. :) Maybe you can fool the superstition fairy.

So the story goes. I would just love to photograph the old Spanish mining symbols and other remnants of the past.

Y'all need to see this thread

May be the all time champ for getting something for nearly nothing.

I think everyone dreams of stumbling onto something like that.

Canon extrapolated the shutter delay from the 15MP 50D. Apparently, the 7D starts the second curtain a bit too early as the extra 4 MP were calculated at 18.835 rather than 19.283 MP

Edit: Oh, wait. I thought that I was replying in the rumour thread. My bad.

Huh?

'Circumstances' dictate that I won't be buying any more equipment for a very long time, if ever. I was happy to learn that the 7D is a crop body because I'm raelly locked into FF from here on. I have a 40D, and two EF-S lenses (10-22 and 17-85), and I rarely use them, especially since buying the 5D2.

If you ever decide to sell the 10-22, let me know. I know I've said I wanted to stay away from EF-S, but I'd really like to have a superwide...

I always think of that movie "Electra Glide in Blue" when I hear The Superstitions. All this Arizona talk and imagary gets me pumped up for our trip comeing up in 17 days. I hope I kick this cold thing so I can enjoy the scenery. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some gold for ya Woolburr.
