I am Henry. NOT Hank. And certainly not a length of rope tied in a knot. ;)
My family calls me Hen, but you can call me Chicken. See you out there!

I've spent the afternoon ripping out the outside kitchen wall behind the sink. There's some serious termite damage, but oddly limited to just a couple of areas.

So I rip off the paneling and trim around the window and what do I find?

TERMITES! Live ones. Thousands of 'em, wriggling around. I thought they were gone.

I hit 'em with the insect spray I had handy, then off to the hardware store for termite-specific stuff that'll last a while.

Tomorrow I'll replace three studs below the kitchen window that have termite damage (and maybe live termites inside) - I'll have to be careful here, since these studs bear the load of the second story.

Then the inside sheetrock, paneling and trim.

After that I'll replace the outside wall I had to rip off, then the shingles.

This is going to take a while...

Yeah, on second thought that probably wouldn't be the best course of action considering you don't want to burn the house down! :D

Gah. Just found out that my D3 isn't getting here until Tuesday.

Reminds me of when I bought my 1Ds Mk II. I paid a ton to get it overnight from B&H. I watched it all day on UPS tracking, and it kept telling me "Out For Delivery." Finally, about 9:00pm, they changed it to some notation about being missing.

I was at their terminal the next morning at 6:00am, and they found it on the truck. I suspect the driver didn't feel like driving all the way out to our house, and just took it back to the terminal.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

The irony of this whole situation... I already have sold and shipped all of my Canon lenses/accessories. So as of tomorrow I will have in my possession:

  • Canon 1D mark II
  • Nikon 70-200 2.8G VR

A lens without a body and a body without a lens. Oh boy.

F-in lame man. I would have made major complaints. I did when my 1 day air package with my tripod took a week. >.< Wild effin goose chase.
