I liked the gimbal for mine. It made for some sweet smooth panning. Jon has that too

ah well.

and wool, I've never been in a state that lets you drive 80mp I think 70 is the fastest (or 75). That's a cool shelter though. Makes me wonder why they only put it there...so that the avalanche could block it in the front and back?

It's been fun chatting with you dudes. I'm back to the sweatshop tomorrow so who knows when I'll be back.

Lots of southwest has posted 75mph speed limits...cheat a little and 80 is no problem....hehehe

And I won't tell you about the hour in west Texas that never saw less than 100....

Lisa, catch you later!

Go visit Montana! Or even California -- if you are driving 80 on the interstate, stay in the slow lane so the Highway Patrol can pass you:)!

The "Sticks" (TV Name for a Tripod) and fluid head they were using with that 1200mm are identical to that used by TV News crews just about world wide. We use Sachtler gear in Sports TV as well.

Oh, and I loves me a 300mm f/2.8L IS as well...

Gracias Dan...

One wouldn't normally think of the 300 as a "portrait" lens but it lets me back off and snipe yielding some very natural candid poses.

The last one is one of my favs from that entire week.

There is no question that it is one sweet lens. One of these days I'll be able to own instead of rent.

I am officially distraught. I can't find any of the images from day two or day five and six of my trip....missing numbers indicate I have lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 images. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am totally bummed...I only got to spend an hour in San Antonio...so I tried to make the best of it...those shots are all MIA. And the shots I took of the Fish and Chips joint...and dinner with my sister are all not showing either....I guess I need to run the recovery software and see if they accidentally got formatted or something...seems odd...I have images missing from 3 different cameras.
